I was sitting around one night talking to Ceelie,
which happens most everyday because she continues to listen
so I continue to talk. I mentioned casually that I had always wanted
to try writing a script. I was so surprised that she didn't laugh at me
that I went home and started writing. I wrote until about 4:30am.
The next morning, well later that morning, I called her to ask if
she had read the script and she said "come on over and let's
film it with the camcorder". It took us about two weekends to
shoot the footage and about two weeks to edit it down to a six
minute movie. It sucked. The staging was so so, the lighting was
horrible and the audio was really really really bad. But we learned
a lot and immediately wanted to do it again. So a bunch of books later
and countless hours trying to sort out character quirks and story arcs
and we are working on our first feature. It's harder than it looks and I
still have a lot to learn, but it's really fricken cool and I love it.
